Rodney Wallace Has Contract Option Declined
December 3rd, 2012 by Michael Orr
Portland Timbers midfielder/defender Rodney Wallace’s contract option was declined by the club today, leaving him at least temporarily available for the league’s re-entry draft. According to John Strong, the club is working to negotiate a new deal with the 24-year old Costa Rican international. The deadline for a new deal is Thursday at 6:00pm Eastern, at which time he will either be kept on the Timbers’ roster or available for league-wide selection. A new deal would likely mean less money for Wallace, who made $110,000 in base salary in 2012.
