We had hoped to bring you an exciting episode where we got the inside scoop on what was going on behind-the-scenes with the Obafemi Martins transfer. Unfortunately, the deal remained in limbo at recording and we decided it was better to wait on that until it comes to a conclusion.
In the meantime, Aaron and I spoke at length about the positives and negatives to come out of the loss to the Montreal Impact. It was a disappointing result, to say the least, but after one game we think it might be a little early to hit the panic button.
In the second segment, we welcomed Pro Soccer Talk’s Richard Farley (@RichardFarley) to the show to give us a little insight into Wednesday’s opponent, UANL Tigres. He also gives us more of a national perspective on the Martins transfer.

We’re back from another prolonged absence. Hope you missed us! Still not a ton of stuff happening during the Seattle Sounders offseason, but at least we have preseason games to talk about. Among the topics this week are Christian Tiffert’s somewhat mysterious absence, the latest transfer rumors and how the lineup may look for First Kick.
We also decided now would be a good time to catch up with friend of the show Ross Fletcher (@RossFletcher1). The Sounders announcer recently got back from England and has managed to see the team up close and personal much more recently than either of us have. He also sheds some light on the ever-changing perception of MLS back in the old country.
Not entirely sure if the schedule-makers planned it this way, but this is a very Cascadia-centric period for the Seattle Sounders. To help us make sense of it all, we brought on former Sounders defender Taylor Graham (@TaylorGraham26), who experienced this rivalry from numerous angles. He was a player on the USL and MLS teams and now is seeing it as a part of the business staff.
Before we get to him, though, we discuss last week’s scoreless draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Aaron was much more discouraged by the performance than I was, but he makes some very good points about the Sounders’ propensity for pumping the ball into the box via cross. He also points out a troubling trend in games where that is a primary mode of attack. I focused a little more on the fact that the Sounders defense had its best performance in several weeks.

It’s another exciting week in the world of Nos Audietis as the Seattle Sounders are coming off a nice win over Chivas USA and get ready for another Cascadia Cup showdown with the Portland Timbers. Joining us were Sounders midfielder Alex Caskey and former coach Alan Hinton.
The big talking point of the week was once again Eddie Johnson, who set a new Sounders record by scoring his 13th goal of the season. Appropriately enough, he got it off an assist from Fredy Montero. We go as far as calling Johnson a dark-horse MVP candidate, especially if he keeps up this torrid pace.
Caskey joined us in the second segment and we managed to get to the bottom of what was going on during his non-celebration of the goal he scored against Caledonia. We also discover that his roommate Andy Rose tends to put the accent on a little extra think when ladies are around.
Hinton, who shockingly has never been a guest on the show before, was very forthright, as well. Among his observations is that this is the best job Sigi Schmid has done during his four years in charge.

Coming off a rather horrible week, the Seattle Sounders got just what they needed with a win over Cascadia Cup rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps. The winning goal was provided by none other than Fredy Montero, who made a bit of a surprise appearance off the bench. A surprise only because he figured to be starting.
There is much discussion about that game and how, once again, there were precious few areas that we could find fault in this team. If last week was discouraging, hopefully you’ll agree that this week proves there’s no reason to panic.
In the second segment, we discuss the United States’ historic win over Mexico with MLSsoccer.com Editor-in-Chief Greg Lalas (@gaetjens). He gives some solid perspective on what this could mean for the United States going forward. He’s also a noted Chivas USA enthusiast and we pick his brain a bit about the upcoming game.

Big, big week for us in Sounders-land. Not only did the Seattle Sounders start CONCACAF Champions League play on Wednesday with a win over Caledonia, but they followed that up with a 4-0 trouncing of the LA Galaxy. That was all just a mere preview for Wednesday’s chance at history in the U.S. Open Cup final against Sporting Kansas City.
After quickly dispensing with talk of Caledonia and the Galaxy, we welcome none other than Jimmy Conrad (@jimmyconrad_com) to the show to help us preview Wednesday’s match. Conrad, as you may know, played most of his MLS career with Kansas City. His time there also gives him some quality insight into Eddie Johnson, who he also played on the 2006 U.S. World Cup team with. It’s a fun interview, to be sure.

Hey, we made it back. Hope you missed us. That was pretty excruciating, wasn’t it? Not knowing if you had the right opinions about the Chelsea friendly or the All-Star Game? Good thing we’re back to tell you how you should feel about all the Transfer Window Madness and Saturday’s win over the Colorado Rapids.
Both Aaron and myself are reasonably satisfied with the moves, by the way. A Christian Tiffert-for-Alvaro Fernandez swap didn’t quite feel right, but assuming the Sounders are really signing this Mario Martinez guy, it’s hard not to be bullish about this team moving forward. And picking up a win at Colorado never sucks.
Also, what about this Eddie Johnson character? There’s really no reason to act otherwise: He’s a Grown Ass Man with some Grown Ass Talent and playing out of his Grown Ass Mind. You just have to love watching him right now.

Sorry for this coming out a little later than we would have liked, but, let’s be honest, there wasn’t anything really pressing this week. The Seattle Sounders qualified for another U.S. Open Cup final and continued their non-suckiness in league play. While not quite perfect, the sense of panic has subsided.
The Sounders are actually playing pretty good soccer these days, even if that 1-0-3 unbeaten streak hasn’t exactly yielded as many points as we’d probably like. The quick passing that we grew accustomed to last year seems to have returned, the defense is not quite as scary as it was starting to look and the key players are mostly returning to health.
The most pleasing part, at least to Aaron and myself, has been the play of Fredy-and-Eddie. In the two games this week, the pair looked perfectly capable of co-existing. They may never form a bosom-buddies partnership, but they showed this week that their skills can be complimentary.

Oh. My. God. As bad as it has been around these parts over the past couple weeks, Saturday felt like a rather massive relief. Not only did the Seattle Sounders win their first league game in almost two months. Not only did they look sharp doing it. But we also got to see Steve Zakuani play against the same team that put him out about 14 months ago.
Regular-season wins really don’t get much more satisfying than that one.
There was much to discuss beyond Zakuani, though. We spent quite a bit of time how impressed we are with Eddie Johnson and how good Mauro Rosales looked as a second forward. We even broached the sometimes sacrosanct subject of Fredy Montero’s struggles.
